Front Beach Back Beach

Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery and Deakin University’s Public Art Commission welcome you to Front Beach Back Beach (FBBB), a new public art event unfolding across the Mornington Peninsula in November. Featuring leading Australian artists, invited to respond to key sites, stories and communities that have collectively shaped this unique region of Victoria — FBBB aims to delight, beguile and challenge in equal measure. The commissions take many forms, from sculpture, sound and installation accessible across the month, to performance, film and activations presented at set session times.
The fifteen projects are arranged into three geographical hubs — Western Port, Foreshore and Point Nepean — each containing five commissions and a rich public program offering performances, artist talks, and community participation. Each hub will be activated for ten days, with associated programming scheduled within this period.
The site-specific commissions will unfold across the Peninsula from 4—27 November 2022 and will be documented for an exhibition at MPRG from 10 December 2022 — 19 February 2023.
